I submitted my tax exemption certificate, why am I still seeing tax?

COVID-19:

Due to COVID-19 tax exemption applications have taken longer than normal to process. 

Please check your tax exemption status online by logging into OttoFrei.com and navigating to My Account > Tax Exemption. If you're application is still pending please check your email for any communication for OttoFrei.com to ensure we have everything to approve your application. 

If your application has been approved:

With a valid tax exemptrion certificate you will be tax exempt on resale items. Resale items include:

• Findings
• Metals
• Gemstones

Those items are tax exempt because you will be reselling them to your customer - at which point you would be collecting sales tax for your state. 

Please note that tool purchases will always be taxed.
